Fleet

The main hangar houses the club-owned fleet, including four two-seater gliders with full dual controls and four single seaters for use by the more experienced solo pilots. 

Club members take on the responsibility of cleaning the gliders every active day after flying and completing basic maintenance. Sailplane Services whom are located in one of the hangars on the airfield keep all our aircraft up to date.

Our tow plane CEB. It’s a Piper Pawnee with a 260 HP Lycoming engine and a four bladed prop to reduce noise for our neighbours.

We have two tractors and two buggies to tow the planes and ground equipment around the airfield, a caravan for the launch point operations and a fantastic clubrooms with lounge, lecture room, bar, kitchen and accomodation for visiting pilots.

The Schempp-Hirth Duo Discus is a high-performance two-seat glider primarily designed for fast cross-country flying, including gliding competitions. Often, it is used for advanced training.

ASK-21

The ASK 21 is designed primarily for beginner instruction, but is also suitable for cross-country flying and aerobatic instruction. It also has a hand rudder control for lower-limb immobile or amputee pilots.

The PW-6 is an ab initio trainer with the capability of entry level cross-country flying as well. It has handling and performance characteristics similar to the PW-5 to make it easier for pilots transitioning to single seat.

The Schempp-Hirth Discus-2 is a Standard Class sailplane produced by Schempp-Hirth since 1998. High performance, non-flapped glider. A favourite for standard class competitors.

The DG-303 is a high performance single seat glider that provides the more experienced single solo pilot to greater heights and further cross country distances. With a 44:1 best LD she is a joy to fly and is competitive in the club class competitions

Winch 1 is an airfield only winch that is towed by one of the club tractors. It is powered by a 350Chev V8 engine. Typical launch heights of 1200ft are expected on a good day
